Information for All Pharmacists

Many pharmacies will practice some compounding. Most will perform basic compounding - for example, combining two ointments into one preparation. The more complicated and time-consuming the procedure, the more likely it is to be performed only in specialized compounding pharmacies.

If you are a compounding pharmacy, please visit the PCAB Informational Web site at www.pcab.info. There you will find information regarding PCAB, including rules, principles, standards, fees and frequently asked questions. Applications to PCAB are made through the pcab.info site

If your pharmacy compounds, it should earn its designation as a "PCAB Accredited® compounding pharmacy." If your pharmacy does not compound, or the type of compounding is very limited, you may be called upon to recommend a specialized compounding pharmacy. When you make a recommendation, you put your reputation on the line - we suggest you recommend a PCAB Accredited® compounding pharmacy. Recommend a pharmacy that displays the PCAB Seal.
